John E. Lawler - Town Supervisor
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Our Waterford community suffered a tragic loss on September 16th with the passing of my dear friend Dick Hurst. Dick served our community in many roles. He was a former Town Supervisor, Town Councilman, and Town Highway Superintendent. Dick made a tremendous impact on our community in all of those roles.
Many of you may know Dick from his position as Harbor Master at the Waterford Visitors Center. Dick was appointed Harbor Master in 2000, and he served in that position for 17 years right up until his passing. He was intricately involved in managing the many festivals and events at the Visitors Center, and he was admired and respected by everyone involved in those efforts.
Dick was also very well known by boaters from around the country. His friendly personality made everyone feel welcome when docking their boats in Waterford while traveling through the New York State Canal system.
Dick loved Waterford, and spent much of his life making Waterford a great place to live and raise a family. He will be sorely missed, but his impact on our community will never be forgotten.
Our Hearts and prayers are with our Troops all over the world!

If you need help reading the Roll or understanding its abbreviations, the Assessor is usually available to help (call for an appointment: 235-9907).
Using either of these methods can help you decide if your assessment is fair or needs review. If review is your choice, go to www.tax.ny.gov/pdf/publications/orpts/grievancebooklet.pdf or telephone your Assessor.
