Town and Village of Waterford to honor Major Caine M. Goyette

August 9, 2017 (Waterford, NY)- The Town and Village of Waterford in partnership with the Goyette Family will hold a Memorial Ceremony to honor the life of Major Caine M. Goyette. Maj. Caine M. Goyette was killed, along with 14 other Marines and one Navy sailor, on July 10 after their Marine Corps KC-130 transport plane had a midair emergency and crashed in rural Mississippi. Maj. Goyette was a native of Waterford, attended Waterford-Halfmoon schools, and later Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was the highest-ranking Marine on the flight and had been in the military since 1994. Hewas commissioned as an active duty officer in 2002. Caine completed flight training at Whiting Field, Corpus Christi, and Cherry Point, ultimately flying the KC-130. His duty stations included Futenma, Okinawa, Syracuse (recruiting), Stewart Air National Guard Base (two) and Bahrain. He flew missions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, a Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force in Africa, and a number of humanitarian missions.
