The Town of Waterford Dragon Boat Festival is a fun day for the family, full of dragon boat racing and friendly competition for a good cause.
The Town of Waterford is Proud to host this event to benefit    To Life!To Life! provides personal support, empowers informed decision-making, and enhances the quality of life for those affected by breast cancer in the Capital Region.

What is a Dragon Boat Race?

A dragon boat is a 42 foot lightweight boat powered by up to 20 paddlers and one drummer.

Dragon Boats originated in China and have been popularized throughout the world. 

During the festival, teams of paddlers will race one another in a tournament style competition.

  • 21 person dragon boat provided to fill with a team of your choice
  • Entry into at least two heats on race day

Checks made payable to the Town of Waterford 65 Broad Street Waterford, NY 12188- Fees are due by July 24th.

  • Step 1 – Team Captains Please Register Their Team to Sponsor or Participate in the Race
  • Step 2- Each Paddler (at least 12yrs old) Must Fill Out A Waiver and Return It to Their Captain Prior to Race Day In Order to Participate Download The Waiver and Release
  • Step 3- Teams Will Be Able To Sign Up For Practice to be held on Friday August 4, 2023.– Your Practice Session will be held with Pan Am Dragon Boat Association at the Visitor Center.  Click here to sign up for a practice session

* Each Registered Team will have a designated 10x10 space in the grassy area near the promenade to set up a tent/chairs.
