Town of Waterford announces Pool and Park openings for the 2021 season

The Town of Waterford is pleased to announce that the Town pool will open for the 2021 season on Friday, June 25th.  The pool will operate daily from noon to 6:00 PM. For more information, please visit www.town.waterford.ny.us or call (518) 235-4414.

The Town of Waterford Park Program will begin for the season on June 28, 2021.  The Park Program will run Monday thru Friday at Clement Park from 10am to 2pm, weather permitting.

Waterford Town Board Agenda meeting is scheduled for June 29th 2021

Special Meeting Notice

The Town Board of the Town of Waterford will also hold a Special Meeting along with the regular Agenda Meeting on Tuesday June 29, 2021 at 7:00 PM via Zoom and by teleconference. The purpose of the meeting is to consider the hiring of a Park Counselor.

In compliance with NY State directives for the containment of Covid – 19, there will be no admittance to Town Hall for any meetings until further notice. The Waterford Town Board will be conducting all public meetings virtually using Zoom technology. Zoom is an online audio and web conferencing platform, that allows livestreaming events as well as providing teleconference access.
The public is invited to monitor the meetings by downloading and installing the free Zoom software on their computer or mobile device. A link to the meeting will be posted here on our website that will allow access to the livestream meeting. A phone number will also be posted for those that want to call in rather than accessing via the internet. As per our usual practice, the public will be invited to offer comments and questions at the end of the meeting.

All meetings conducted via Zoom will be recorded in their entirety. The recording will be posted on the Town website for future pubic access. If you have questions regarding this process please contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 518-235-8282.

The Town of Waterford announce Fireworks for the 4th of July

Waterford Supervisor, John Lawler announced today that the Town of Waterford will host a spectacular fireworks display at the Hurst Harbor Center on Sunday, July 4th.
“It is time to come together for Waterford’s celebration of American Independence,” said Waterford Supervisor, John Lawler. “We hope that residents and visitors will join in the fun as we celebrate with the best fireworks show in one of the most picturesque locations in the state!”
“I am so pleased that we can celebrate our freedom and independence once more at our beautiful harbor,” stated Councilwoman Laurie Marble.

The Fireworks will begin at approx. 9:15 pm.

Town of Waterford announces 2021 Paving Program

Today, the Town of Waterford is pleased to announced the 2021 paving program. 

“The Town of Waterford remains dedicated to improving our infrastructure and safe streets are central to the Town Board’s commitment to our residents,” said Waterford Town Supervisor John Lawler.

“This ambitious paving schedule is yet another example of what we can accomplish when we work together,” stated Councilman Jim Boudreau.

The following streets are scheduled for paving:

Valleyview Avenue (south)

Valleyview (north)

Hillview Avenue

Mountainview (southern end)

Mountainview (northern end)

Ridgeview

Garrett Drive

Van Ness Street (Saratoga Avenue to Columbus)

Lea Avenue

Davis Avenue

Davis Drive (Cul-de-Sac)

Craig Avenue (dead end)

Barret Drive

Terri Avenue

When this year’s paving program is completed, The Town of Waterford will have paved more then 6.5 miles of local roads since 2019. 

In 2019 the following roads were paved:

River Street, First Avenue, Second Avenue, Third Avenue, Hill Street, Shear court, Timber drive, Wood Lot, Barley Court, Suncrest drive, Morgan Lane, Appaloosa Court, Harvest Way, Orchard Lane, Devitt Road, Grand Alley Clifton Street.

In 2020 the following roads were paved:

Pheasant Run, Pine View Court, Hillview Terrace, Bechard Lane, Ferguson Lane, Cappabianca Drive, James Drive.


The Town of Waterford is seeking a Full Time
SENIOR CITIZEN / COMMUNITY CENTER DIRECTOR

Responsibilities include:

-Planning, promoting, and directing all Senior Citizen Center programs.
-Organizing and supervising recreational and craft programs and activities to meet the
diversified needs and engage the interests of the Waterford Seniors social club.
-Planning and implementing a variety of special events suited to senior needs; including community projects, workshops, presenters, and excursions.
-Working with churches, schools, and other organizations in the community to ensure maximum program participation.
-Preparing and distributing publicity and news release material and speaking to civic groups on the topic of senior citizens.
-Preparing and publishing an engaging and creative monthly program calendar which incorporates events and programs by the 1st of every month.
-Identifying grant opportunities and participating in grant writing to generate funding support for innovative senior center programs and activities.
-Ensuring the smooth operation of the daily Meals on Wheels program working cooperatively with the County of Saratoga Office for the Aging.
-Responsibly managing and supervising all aspects of Town provided medical and recreational transportation operations; including personnel and scheduling.
-Supervising the activities of subordinate employees and volunteers in the varied activities at the center.
-Keeping records of expenses and making budget recommendations for program needs.
-Preparing and maintaining a variety of related reports and records.
-The position reports directly to the assigned Town Councilperson liaison and dotted line reporting to the Town Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Needed:

-Working knowledge of planning and practices relative to acquiring and equipping Senior Center recreational facilities.
-Ability to read, understand and interpret Federal and State regulations affecting senior citizens such as the Older American Act.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Empathy for the problems and feelings of the senior population.
-Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
-Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:
A) Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Recreational Services, or related field and one (1) year of full-time paid experience; OR
B) Associate degree in Human Services, Recreational Services, or related field and three (3) years of full-time paid experience.

The Town of Waterford is seeking a Full Time Information Technology Specialist to oversee the Town’s growing technical network.

Primary responsibilities include:

-Maintain the Town’s network of electronic data infrastructure which includes both wired and wireless technology. This includes hardware and software installation and ongoing support, as well as server and network administration.

-Maintain the integrity of the Town Windows Server and desktop environment ensuring data protection using the latest virus and internet filtering software.

-Ensure the integrity of the data backup and restore processes.

-Maintain the Town’s enterprise email system.

-Provide technical support for all other town enterprise and stand-alone systems.

-Research and recommend appropriate technology initiatives.

-Oversee the installation and maintenance of security and webcam technology.

-Maintain the Town’s website and manage updates as necessary.

-Provide support for Town zoom meetings as necessary.

-Serves as point of contact with the Town’s telephone & internet service provider.

This position reports directly to the Town Supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a regionally accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Technology or a closely related field and (2) years experience in maintaining a computer network, maintaining computer hardware, associated software and peripheral equipment OR an Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Electronic Technology or a closely related field and (4) years experience in maintaining a computer network, maintaining computer hardware, associated software and peripheral equipment.

 Fredrichson Cooperage

Contaminated PCB Cleanup Project

Preliminary work for the long delayed cleanup of the PCB contaminated site at the former Fredrichson Cooperage on Saratoga Avenue has begun, and the removal of PCB contaminated soils will begin this month. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation will conduct a virtual public information meeting at 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 11th to discuss the overall project and the plans in place to protect the health and safety of nearby residents. All Waterford residents are  encouraged to attend the meeting as this project will impact traffic and the use of the Champlain Canal Trail. The meeting will also include an opportunity for residents to ask questions or offer comments regarding the project.

The Saratoga County Department of Public Health has created an online form by which individuals may register for an opportunity to receive a Covid 19 vaccination. The registration in available to those individuals who are currently eligible to receive the vaccine per the conditions established by the Governor’s prior Executive Orders.

Qualifying individuals who complete and submit the form will be entered into a lottery system and individuals who are selected will be notified and receive further instructions from the Saratoga County Department of Public Health.
