Services provided:

LICENSES:

MARRIAGE LICENSE:

Requirements:

1. Proof of Identification: Current Drivers License or Non-Driver ID Card AND copy of original birth certificate

2. If divorced, copy of your original divorce papers, sealed or stamped.

3. You will need to know your social security number, and mothers maiden name.

4. It is recommended but not necessary that you have already chosen the last name you wish to be known as legally. This saves time and arguments at the counter!

5. There is a  $50  fee for the license.

FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

There is a twenty four (24) hour waiting period from the time we issue your license until the time you may get married. For example; if you receive your license at 10:00 A.M. today, you may be married at 10:01 A.M. tomorrow.

Your license is good for 60 days from the day you receive it. This is called the solemnization period.

There is no longer a blood test requirement.

DOG LICENSES:

Any dog over the age of six (6) months must be licensed. Proof of rabies shots are required in order for you to purchase the dog license. The fees for the license in Waterford are as follows:

1. If your dog is spayed or neutered, you must submit proof from your veterinarian. The fee is then $5.00 per year per dog, payable to the Town of Waterford.

2. If your dog is not spayed or neutered, the fee is $13.00 per year per dog payable to the Town of Waterford.

FISHING LICENSES:

Senior fishing licenses are $5.00. The regular fishing licenses are $19.00. The conservation year runs from October 1st through September 30th. Other conservation license fees may be obtained by calling the Town Clerk’s office at 235-8282.

SOLICITORS PERMITS AND LICENSES:

Applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office. There is generally a one week waiting period from application to license due to the fact that all solicitors permit applications are checked through the Waterford Police Department before issuance. The fee for solicitors permit is $50.00 for both the Town and Village.

CERTIFICATES OF RESIDENCY:

POLICY: The County of Saratoga reimburses community colleges approximately one third of the cost of educating students that are PROVEN Saratoga County residents. Proof of residency is required for anyone wishing to obtain a certificate of residency from the Waterford Town Clerk. You must currently be and have continuously been a resident of the Town of Waterford for one year in order to receive a certificate from this office. Certificates are then valid for one year after you receive them from this office. If you do not meet this criteria, you must contact Saratoga County Treasurer’s office. We cannot and will not issue this certificate without you meeting the above conditions.

Some examples of proof of residency are as follows:

a current Drivers license or non-driver ID over 1 year old

Pistol permit

Hunting or Fishing License

Automobile Registration in the Applicant’s name

Insurance Card in the Applicant’s name

Utility bill in the applicant’s name

Bank Statements or Credit Card bills in the Applicant’s name

Proof of a parent or legal guardians residency will suffice as proof of a minor child’s residency

Foreign born applicants will, in addition, be required to provide a certificate of Naturalization or Resident Alien card

Recent military veterans need to present their discharge papers.

Because of a wide variety of residency situations presented, the Saratoga County Treasurer will be the sole judge of what constitutes acceptable proof; it will not be negotiated with the applicant.
