Information Regarding the Grievance Procedure for 2018
The Town of Waterford 2018 Tentative Roll will be published on May 1st, at which point it will be available for review in the Town Assessor’s Office during business hours, and on the Saratoga County website (http://www.saratogacountyny.gov/departments/real-property-tax-service-agency/assessment-rolls-2/). It will also be available for review Saturday May 5th from 9am to 1pm and Monday May 14th from 4pm to 8pm. The assessor will be available to answer questions from 9am to 4pm on Thursdays and by appointment on Tuesdays in May.
If you are interested in formally grieving your assessment, the RP-524 form is available in the Assessor’s Office or on our Assessment Related Links page.
The Board of Assessment Review will meet on Thursday, May 24th, from 4pm to 8pm (this is a correction to the date provided on the cover letter accompanying your revaluation disclosure letter), at the Waterford Community/Senior Center. That is the absolute deadline to submit your completed RP-524 forms to the Assessor’s Office. The BAR meeting is first-come-first-serve. You do not have to attend in person to have your grievance reviewed by the BAR, but you do have to have your RP-524 form completed and submitted to the assessor’s office.
The next step to pursuing a change to your assessment after the BAR is a Small Claims Assessment Review, or SCAR. If you are satisfied with the findings of the BAR, you do not have to pursue a SCAR hearing. However, you cannot pursue a SCAR hearing if you did not apply to the BAR.
