Vote on New Proposed Fire Station

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING 

            The Board of Fire Commissioners of the Halfmoon-Waterford Fire District No.1, pursuant to a resolution duly adopted on October 16, 2018, herby calls a special election of the qualified voters of the Fire District, 315 Middletown Road, Waterford, New York, Tuesday November 27, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. prevailing time for the purpose of voting on the following proposition:

Shall the bond resolution of the Board of Fire Commissioners adopted on October 22, 2018 authorizing the Fire District to (A) construct an approximately 20,000 square foot footprint fire station and related parking and site improvements to replace an existing fire station on the property located 315 Middletown Road, Waterford, New York, and acquire original furnishings, equipment, machinery or apparatus required for the purpose for which such building is so to be used, at a maximum estimated cost of $13,375,000, (B) expend such sum for such purpose, including the expenditure of $1,043,437 from the Capital Reserve Fund, (C) levy the necessary tax therefore, to be levied and collected in annual installments in such years and in amounts as may determined by the Board of Fire Commissioners, and (D) in anticipation of the collection of such tax, issue bonds and notes of the Fire District at one time or from time to time in principal amount not to exceed $12,231,563, and levy a tax to pay the interest on said obligations when due , be approved?

            The vote upon such proposition shall be paper ballot. The hours during which the polls shall be kept open shall be from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. prevailing time or for as long thereafter as necessary to enable qualified voters who are in the polling place at 9:00 p.m. to cast their ballots. Every elector of the Town of Halfmoon and the Town of Waterford who shall be a registered voter and who shall have resided in the Fire District for the period of thirty days next preceding November 27, 2018, shall be qualified to vote upon proposition.
