Public Workshop - Mohawk Gateway Streetscape Project (@ the Waterford Harbor Visitors Center)

Mohawk Gateway Streetscape Project Meeting  -  @ the Visitor Center (1 Tugboat Alley)

The Town is undertaking a beautification project along the Saratoga Avenue corridor (south from Fulton Street).  The project will include the design and construction of signs, sidewalks, street trees, landscaping, lighting, furniture and green space; road repair to facilitate park and museum access; and a museum enhancement feasibility study.  The goal of these improvements is to enhance perceptions of the Town and augment visitation and private investment.

The project, formally known as the Mohawk Gateway Streetscape Project, will be accomplished through a $740,000 grant provided by the New York State Department of State.  It was originally approved in October 2016, but has been on hold due to construction work on the new Cohoes-Waterford Bridge at the southern gateway.  An anticipated completion date for the Mohawk Gateway Streetscape Project is September 30, 2019.

A  consultant has been selected and will  present some preliminary plans and ideas at the upcoming meeting.  Invited attendees will include the Town Board, Planning Board, Town Engineer, Town Highway Superintendent, and the Citizen Advisory Group.   The goal of the meeting is for the consultant to make a presentation and receive feedback from the various groups.  The consultant will then incorporate the group’s ideas into a final plan that will be presented at a later meeting this Fall.
