Canal Clean Sweep

The Waterford Historical Museum will be one of many participating members in New York State celebrating Earth Day with this tradition of cleaning and keeping our canal a beautiful landmark. Everyone is invited to volunteer!

Bring your gloves and anything else you’re willing to work with – rakes, cutters, etc. We’re going to have a great time! This year will be the 193rd consecutive navigational season of the New York State Canal System and it’s a great way to mark the beginning of your celebration of the Erie Canal’s Bicentennial. Be sure to stop in the museum when it opens in May to add another canal event to your list with our upcoming exhibits.
